Read the "What's at Stake?" for this chapter.
Take a position: Should racial profiling be allowed in the screening of airline passengers?
As you develop your argument, answer the following questions.
- What similarities and differences exist between the profiling of those of Middle Eastern descent and African Americans or Hispanic Americans?
- In Chapter 4, we discussed the conflict of rights. How important are individual rights as compared to taking into account the "good of society?"
- Does your answer depend on how successful the profiling is likely to be? Can you find evidence that racial profiling is successful? Does it matter if you cannot?
